In the heart of a typical Cévennes hamlet made of old stones and small streets, in a protected green setting, come and discover this place of memory. Opened in 1911, expanded and enriched in 2019, the Musée du Désert, the largest museum of Protestant history in France, bears witness to the resistance of the Huguenots in the face of the intolerance of absolute power, from the wars of religion to the French Revolution in 1789.
In the birthplace of chef Camisard Rolland and through 20 rooms and more than 3000 objects, weapons, maps, hiding places, paintings, costumes and rare books, you can immerse yourself in this inseparable history of Cévennes culture that is astonishing war of the Camisards.

The Desert Museum is also the starting point of the international path “In the footsteps of the Huguenots” (Council of Europe cultural route since 2013).
