Located on the southern slope of Mont Lozère, the Pont-de-Montvert is crossed by the Tarn which takes its source on the heights of the town.

The charm of the granite houses and the natural swimming pools formed by the Tarn make the village of Pont-de-Montvert the ideal place for a stopover and a stay. The village is at the crossroads of several hiking trails, and it is not uncommon to meet hikers accompanied by a donkey, cyclists and riders. This haven of peace is an excellent destination to relax and enjoy nature.

The village is known to have been on July 24, 1702, following the collective execution of Father Cheyla who had operated for several years in acts of barbarism on Protestants in the belfry leaning against the bridge over the Tarn , the starting point of the war of the camisards. One of the leaders of the revolt, the camisard Esprit Seguier was condemned to be burned alive on the banks of the Tarn.
